Practical Floral Crown Tutorial

It's no question that I'm a sucker for a good floral crown, but I know as much as the next person that they aren't always the most practical accessory. For the summer I wanted to create a floral piece that I could wear on the more casual days with a more subtle, simple approach.

Supplies: faux flowers, jewelry or floral wire, elastic headband.
Pantry Supplies: Scissors

1.// Choosing the right flowers is the most important part of this project. I chose something that made a statement but still small enough to blend in with any outfit or occasion. 2.// Begin the project by cutting off the flowers with three-five inches of stem left. 3. // Next, twist them together in a long strip, attaching them together with the wire. I made mine about ten inches long, but you should make yours according to your crown size and how many flowers you'd like to have showing. Secure both the base of the flower and the end of the flower so that there are no loose ends. 4.// Once you've connected the flowers, attach it to the hair band with either wire or needle and thread.

I've worn mine with my hair down, covering the bottom of the hair band. Next time I plan on styling it the same as I would with it down, but then pulling back all my hair into a low, messy bun.

If you decide to tackle this project, please leave a link, I'd love to see all the different combinations!

Along for the Ride.

Editing the day away. Attempting to get all caught up before the weekend hits. We'll be off to Madison, WI for a wedding I've been anticipating for months and months. I feel like I'm in a whirlwind lately, though I don't mean it in a negative way. It's wedding season for me, so that means lots of shooting, lots of meetings, lots of traveling. My personality is go with the flow, so I feel as though this season of busyness is blowing me along, taking me where it pleases. I love my job. I love the inconsistency and element of surprise it brings with each day. It can be as real, raw, and emotional as I'm willing to see it. I'm just along for the ride, and it's up to me to look out the window and see the views.

Summertime Must-Haves

Summertime is upon us my friends. Time for bonfires and late night talks. Time for swimming, hiking, cliff jumping, and canoeing. Time for cold drinks and warm conversations. Summer clothing is my absolute favorite. For the next three months you'll see me in nothing but shorts, crop tops, dresses and maxi skirts.

Above is a list of must-haves for this summer. This summer will be filled with lots of leathers, crochet patterns, and exploring necessities. What's on your summer wish list?
